The Bible is the sole infallible and final authority for determining Christian doctrine and truth. Sola Scriptura is the Christian doctrine that Scripture alone is the final, sufficient, and infallible authority for Christian faith and doctrine. The Latin phrase means “Scripture alone.” This does not mean that pastors, teachers, church history, creeds, or traditions have no value but it mandates that all teachings must adhere to Scripture, and where they conflict, only Scripture has the final authority.
